HOW I WORK
Here’s a bit of extra info on how I work…
I like to get to know each couple as much as possible before the wedding comes around, if after looking through my galleries you think I might be the photographer for you, then it would be great to organise a meeting so we can have a chat about your wedding day. Just get in touch with a time and day that would suit you both and we can set a date!
Pre-wedding Engagement Shoot
Most couples haven’t had their photograph taken together before their wedding day, and the majority of people don’t feel 100% comfortable in front of the lens either. Don’t worry! This is exactly the reason why I feel it is important to have a pre-wedding shoot before the wedding day, and I offer this as a complimentary part of the wedding service. Not only does it give you both more confidence in having your photograph taken, but it also gives me a chance to get to know you better and build up a strong relationship with you so I know just what you’re wanting from your wedding photos. We can do the shoot somewhere that’s meaningful to you (perhaps where you got engaged), or a local beauty spot, beach or city etc. The shoot itself usually lasts around 2 hours or so and I try to make it as relaxed and fun as possible.
The Wedding Day
On the wedding day I like to blend in as much as possible, I don’t wear any logo-ed T-shirts with my name on shouting “I am the photographer!”, I prefer to wear smart suit trousers and shirt so I look more like a guest than someone who is at the wedding to take over the day and grab all the attention!
The day usually begins with me heading over to where the bride is getting ready, I use this time to get to know close family members, take detail photos of the brides dress, shoes and flowers etc, and then be in the background capturing natural moments of the bride and bridesmaids getting ready. If the guys are getting ready at a separate location far away from the bride and you would also like that part of the day photographing then you can add on a second photographer to the package for an additional $300. If the whole day takes place at the same venue, then I will usually be able to pop between the girls and boys to photograph both sides. I try to arrive at the ceremony location about half an hour before the ceremony begins, this allows me time to get some photos of the groom and the guys along with the guests arriving, and then capture the brides arrival.
For the majority of the day I like to be in the background capturing all the natural candid moments of the day as it unfolds, you won’t find me bossing people around or raising my voice to people (aside from doing a full group shot to get everyone together). I usually take the bride and groom around the venue for a short portrait session, which will generally be no longer then 20-30 minutes, but how long we spend is completely up to the bride and groom. When I photograph a wedding I believe in being there for the full day, my price includes coverage until after the first dance and I always stay for at least 30 minutes after the dance. It is one of my favourite parts of the wedding and love seeing everyone having a good time on the dancefloor enjoying the music and throwing some shapes! Most people don’t want me there when it starts to get messy though so once I’ve got a good coverage of the evening I’ll head off home and start work on the editing once all the photos are backed up (at least 5 times, you can’t be too careful!)
Editing the Photos
After the wedding day, I like to start on editing your photos as soon as possible. If you go away on honeymoon for a few weeks, I like to have your photos ready for when you arrive back home. During peak times it might take me a little longer but I guarantee the photos will be with you in a month after the wedding. Each photo that you receive will have gone through my editing process, I’m quite a perfectionist so I spend a lot of time editing each wedding so that your photos look the very best. Once ready, I will send out the disc/usb stick of the photos with high resolution files so you can make prints from them, and also low-res files optimised for uploading to Facebook. I keep multiple back ups of all your photos so they are nice and secure in case something happens to your copies.
Along with the disc of photos you will receive after the wedding, you can also choose to purchase an album which I believe is the best way to display the full story of your day. Prices starting at $300. The albums can be ordered any time after the wedding to spread the cost, there’s no rush as I keep all your files backed up permanently. I ask you to choose your favourite photos to go in the album, the number depends on the size of the album but is usually from 50 - 100 photos. My albums are all designed by myself using your chosen photos, a PDF will be sent to you with the initial design so you can make any changes to the layout before it gets sent to print. Delivery takes under 3 weeks after payment has been received.
